Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Japanese: 大魔界村 Hepburn: Daimakaimura, lit. "Great Demon World Village") is a platform game/run and gun developed by Capcom and released as an arcade game in 1988, and subsequently ported to a number of other platforms. It is the sequel to Ghosts 'n Goblins and the second game in the Ghosts 'n Goblins series. The gameplay for Ghouls 'n Ghosts is similar to that of Ghosts 'n Goblins. The player controls the knight Arthur, who must advance through a series of eerie levels and defeat a number of undead and demonic creatures in his quest to restore the souls stolen by Lucifer (Loki in the English-language Mega Drive and Sega Master System versions), including the soul of his lover, Princess Prin Prin. Along the way, Arthur can pick up a variety of weapons and armour to help him in his quest. While the core gameplay remains the same as its predecessor, the game now allows Arthur to fire directly upward and directly downward while in mid air. By jumping in certain spots, players can cause a treasure chest to erupt from the ground. By firing his weapon at the chest, players may uncover new weapons, gold armour or an evil magician that changes Arthur into an elderly man or a helpless duck. The gold armour allows players to charge up the weapon to release a powerful magical attack. Each weapon has its own special attack, with the exception of the special weapon (see below). There are five levels and Lucifer's chamber at the end, considered a sixth level in itself. To defeat the game, Arthur must complete level 1 to 5 twice. Upon completing level's 1 to 5 the first time, Arthur is taken back to level 1 again but this time a special weapon appears during the game, which can only be collected if the player is wearing the gold armour. To enter Lucifer's chamber the player must have this special weapon equipped and defeat the penultimate boss. This is an emulated arcade version using M.A.M.E. Captured and played at 60fps. Played on easy difficulty (still very hard though) Invincibility cheat has been used AFTER THE FIRST DEATH on the LAST LEVEL and THEREAFTER ONLY. (SEE NOTES BELOW) Unfortunately I had to invoke cheats to complete this difficult game. Although, I must say I am very happy to have done most of the game without cheats. I just had to use them at the end for the last level and Satan. It was far too difficult for an average gamer like myself. I also intentionally left out the second run of the entire game. Capcom up to their devilish tricks again. I think watching the entire game, once, is enough for any viewer to sit through. REDSEVENNINE'S ATTITUDE TOWARDS USING CHEATS - I am personally against using any cheats in any game and I NEVER use them in my private gaming. ONLY for this channel and the purpose of presenting complete playthroughs they have been used! Otherwise classic great games (such as this one) would not have seen the light of day on my channel, which I would not have been happy about. Used in this longplay playthrough: PC hardware - AMD gpu Emulator - Mame Controller - 10 button custom made arcade joystick - Joystick: Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Buttons: OBSF-30 with 2 microswitches Keep it real baby, run & gun style!!!!
